Car Randoms

My college is a grand total of four-ish hours away from my hometown, so while riding back with a friend it was important that I use this time to say some of the dumbest things to come to my mind. Saying them during the lonely car trip will not only get these dumb things out of my mind, but it will also save me the embarrassment of saying them at, say, a party full of hot girls. Anyway, we were driving through a small town with a lot of “Elect So-And-So” signs. One sign that sparked this dumb thought of mine said “Re-elect Washington”. Now, this to me could have meant one of two things: 1) this sign was telling viewers to elect the same person who was in the position already, or 2) this sign was a pun, telling viewers to elect someone with a famous last name in politics, hence “re-electing” them.
I laughed at this. My friend looked at me and asked what I was laughing at. I told him my idea, and kept going with another idea: what if a John Fitzgerald Kennedy ran for the presidency? Could this JFK be president if there already was a President JFK? Under the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Constitution, a President is only allowed a maximum of two terms, or eight years, in office. The way I saw it, this second JFK (who I made out to be Hispanic, so he was in no way related to the 35th President of the United States) could not be President because there already was a President by this name.
After a 5 second silence, my friend challenged this thought by telling me about Presidents #2 and #6. I rebutted this argument by telling him these two people had different names, one being John Adams, Jr. and the other being John Quincy Adams. My friend then quickly fired back with the two Harrison’s and two Roosevelt’s before again I told him that these four men all had different names from their counterparts. My friend became silent, knowing full well the answer to this ridiculous idea. He told me to shut up because I was getting to be annoying and he needed to concentrate on his driving.

About an hour later I mentioned that there could indeed be another John Fitzgerald Kennedy President because the firs JFK only served one term, so therefore under my idea—long conclusion short my friend laughed and said in a commanding voice “Enough!”
What does he know. I will ask the girl I have a crush on at the next party I see her at and see what she thinks.
