It is my first year once removed from College. Some of my friends are going back. Some for grad school, some for more undergrad, some are the 17 year old girls I may or may not have hooked up with while they were on their campus visit last year who are now entering their freshmen year. Either way there is a vast difference in my life. Here are some examples.
A year ago today I would be: Unpacking shit and drinking a Keystone Ice while my iTunes played "Welcome to the Jungle."
Today I am: Just getting home from a Sunday shift. Drinking water and listening to Coldplay "Fix You."
A year ago tomorrow I would be: Going to one of my three classes to see who were the hottest five girls. Find their names on the attendance list, Facebook them, learn their interests and work on a conversation starter for Wednesday's recitation.
Tomorrow I am: Waking up at 7:15am to shower, eat a mediocre breakfast of store brand Cheerios, walk to the N train, barely get on only to be squished between two ethnicities I cannot name just to make it to work by 9:00am
A year ago Tuesday I would be: Waking up hungover with "The Office: Season 3" DVD still on my TV. The updating of my buddy list may take the chunk of my day unless I cruise the "Class of 2011" group on Facebook.
Tuesday I am: Answering repetitive emails regarding payroll inquiries whilst enjoying the view from my corner cubical which has a my name on it beautifully created in word-art.
A year ago Wednesday I would be: Finding Samantha Kent (my top Facebook draft) in my class and douchely asking her if she had an extra syllabus, knowing full on she would only have one, forcing her to either share with me or lie. Regardless of what happened, I would tell my roommates I scored big points opening day.
Wednesday I am: Bringing my lunch consisting of PB&J, Oreos, pretzels a Capri Sun and a piece of gum. Am I in fourth grade? No, but that's the only lunch I know.
A year ago Thursday I would be: Going to the "Senior Class Picnic" with a generic "to-go bottle" consisting of an empty Power-ade bottle containing Barton vodka and convenient store OJ. After six hours of drinking the cab ride home conversation would consist of how we would ditch the cab via text message.
Thursday I will: Go out for happy hour and buy two beers for $11.50 all while restraining myself from starting a tab because I have to work again on Friday.
A year ago Friday I would be: Combine Tuesday and Thursday. Add in random hook up and "running the beer pong table"
Friday I am: Wearing jeans to work and tucking in my golf shirt because that is casual. I also DVRd the closing ceremonies and might watch it a week later.
A year ago Saturday I would be: Waking up at 2pm, grilling on the porch with a case of Bud Light and harassing the underclassmen who walk down the street looking for the ZBT house.
This Saturday I am: Going grocery shopping, going to the bank, doing laundry, calling my parents, cleaning the bathroom and going to Shakespeare in th park if I have time.
A year ago Sunday I would be: Loving life in every way.
This Sunday I am: Loving the overtime I will be working.
