The National Hockey League easily received its highest ratings of the season with its now traditional outdoor game on January 1st. This year's game took place in front of a sold-out crowd at Wrigley Field between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. Sound pretty awesome? Well, it actually kind of was. But if you missed it, don't worry. I've transcribed some conversations I overheard at the game. Upon reading them, you will feel like you're actually at the there! (Which could be a rather terrifying out-of-body- experience).
Fan #1: Hey look, a hockey game.
Fan #2: Yeah, and its outside.
Those two passionate fans bring up a couple of interesting facts about the game. First, it was a hockey game. Second, it was outdoors. Both important when trying to visualize the game you neglected to pay any attention to. But that's not all. Listen as the intense Blackhawks-Red Wings rivalry heats up:
Blackhawks Fan: Hey, I hate you.
Red Wings Fan: There is a professional hockey game being played outdoors.
Good Lord, the tension is almost too much to bear. Can you feel it? Can you feel the breeze on your face as you attend a hockey game that's outside? If that doesn't do it for you, surely this touching exchange between a father and his son will send you to the bleachers at Wrigley (figuratively; no such technology yet exists).
Son: Why is the hockey game outside?
Father: I love you too, son.
Alright, alright. So I didn't watch the game.
Wasn't it outside or something?
