Something a little different

Now I know this is a website for humor and believe me I am the first one always to make someone laugh.  But since this is website with most of the people on here in college right now I think it would be a great place to say a little something.  23 year old Maxime Profit, 19 year old Beth Bourdreaux, Nadine Stweart, and Maja Bradonjic were all students at Southeastern Louisiana University.  24 year old Thurman Lowe was a former student of SLU.  Profit, Bourdreaux, and Lowe had their lives tragically cut short last Friday morning by a drunk driver.  Stewart is listed in serious condition and Bradonjic has been released from the hospital.  All five were walking home from a nightclub in the grass, completely off the road (we don’t have sidewalks where this club is located at).  A drunk driver veered off the road and hit all 5 of them.  He continued home as he had no idea what he had done until police came and picked him up from his apartment some hours after the accident.  Now I know this subject has been hammered home for many many years, but I will utter it again:  DRINKING AND DRIVING RUINS LIVES.
3 people had their lives ended for something that should have been prevented.  Their families have been greatly affected for something that should have been prevented.  The two students who survived, have to lived with the night forever etched in their memories and I have a strong feeling they will be asking “Why did I survive.“  Now I’m saying they are going to wish they had died, I think they will ask that question in the sense that whatever higher being they believe in wanted them to live for a reason.  The driver who did this has to live with the fact that he hit 5 people and 3 of those people died.  I am not condoning his actions or his decision to drink and drive, however he did make a horrible mistake and this is a mistake that may cost him life behind bars and a mistake that he has to carry around with him for the rest of his life.  We as an society always talk about doing something to prevent this or any tradgey that can be easily prevented.  The sad truth is after a couple weeks we lose interest because the story isn’t revelant anymore.  For the families and friends of Maxime Profit, Beth Bourdreaux, and Thurman Lowe, the story will never lose revelance.  And for Nadine Stewart and Maja Bradonjic, as well as the driver, the story will never lose revelance.  I’m not saying everybody should stop drinking.  I admit I don’t mind a drink every now and then.  But if you do decide to drink don’t drive or give your keys to someone who won’t drink.  And for the people who notice someone who is drunk and is trying to get in their car to drive, don’t be afarid to step in, because by preventing that person to drive, you may just save a life or two.  One final thought; for those of us who are still fournate to be alive today, let’s start living by a quote I thought of yesterday: “Your life may not be perfect, but at least your alive to change that.”

Passwords

I work in IT for a fairly well known company, but I work for one of the smaller branches. It's just me and one other person and let me just say, he isn't the brightest bulb. We are suppose to change the passwords to the computers every three months, and I was going to be gone on the day that we were suppose to do it. I wrote down the list of passwords that he needed to... Read More » change it to in an Excel doc and told him that he needed change them before he left on Friday, but after everyone is gone for the weekend. Monday I get back and everyone is asking me why they cannot get onto their computer. It turns out the guy didn't like the passwords I had created and made up his own, and then forgot what they were.
