A Democrat Faction in Mexico

July 4th 2008.

Well, the Democratic party in San Miguel was exactly what you could expect from democrats. I am talking about the most unorganized chaotic experience I have ever been a part of. You would imagine a large group of old white people dressed in overly tacky patriotic dress while wearing various politically motivated buttons. Well, there you go. You were just there, only the ratio of woman to man was about 10-1 (some men were so “liberal” I considered them women).

Given that I am male, and a good 25 years the junior of most of these people, I found the only two who resembled youth… Niko and Christine, although not brother and sister or dating, they were obviously very close. They were given a job of selling raffle tickets and Obama buttons, 10 pesos each. After already having paid 15 dollars to enter the event, to charge another dollar for a cheap button was the obvious move for a democrat, bleed the wealthy dry.

The raffle was unique to liberal agendas, among the 5 items to be won was a book, Audacity of Hope by Presidential hopeful Barack Obama and 4 dvds ranging from the extreme “the truth about 9/11” to the more acceptable “the truth about the Iraqi war”. You just can’t lose…

It’s not just that the assembly resembled a mismanaged group of jackasses (pun intended), but I figured seeing how they are all well to do Americans, they must be reasonably intelligent… regardless to their stubborn buttons supporting Hillary Clinton in 08, or their ones simply stating “Pinche Bush”, as if to remind us that they are well cultured Bush bashers.

The reason I was there was to find what appealed to them mostly about the democratic party and most all of their answers either started with  a drawn out “weeeeeeeell…” or included some criticism of the republican party and its demonic leaders. The party lacked substance worth re-living aside from the ridiculous enthusiasm for a man they have never met and hardly know anything about.

At some points in the conversations, especially when someone mentioned they really wanted a book entitled “the bill of wrongs” (clever) I was tempted to say “why don’t you just leave my country”… then I realized, they had and all that needed to be said was a simple “thank you”.

Droid X is invincible

my dad gave me a free phone and got himself a droid. Every few days he gets mad and throws it because it take more than one button to make a phone call. Ive seen it hit the walls, concrete, etc. Girls in school have iPhones that dont last 1 day. They fall off a desk and explode. My dad tries to break his droid and it doesnt even get scratched. Suck on that Apple.
