Today, I came home after a long grueling day of classes and logged on Facebook to check for any messages. To my surprise I was invited by my friend to join the “Unleash the Grease” group. After getting over my disgust of the logo featuring a jar of grease and the slogan “Some like it Greasy”, I read on to find out what my friend has gotten himself into. I’m going to take the pleasure of telling you the story about The Grease Jar.
It all began with Miles Lamborne, a sophomore at the who was trying to figure out a way to earn some extra cash to support his broke self. We all know the life college students lead. It’s a life of being broke and using the only money we have to buy beverages that lead us (hold on taking a breath and scratching) to not waking up in time to make more money to fund the very same thing the next week. So Miles started to toy around with selling stuff on EBay. One day Miles thought, “ why don’t I try to sell that nasty jar of grease we have in the kitchen on Ebay.” From then on Miles and his four other house mates have started a business to promote their form of Modern Art and to promote social responsibility. It all fell into place when Miles found out that he made $305 dollars for a Jar of Grease on Ebay. You can find out more about “The Gentlemen” by going to TheGreaseJar.com. Also, take a look at their article in The Washington Post.
On April 21, the Gentlemen will be holding the Official Premiere of The Grease Jar at their house in College Park, MD. The festivities will include an ice luge, a slip-and-slide, burgers and dogs and the debut of TheGreaseJar.com clothing line.
TheGreaseJar.com has decided to create a 2007-2008 academic calendar that will feature the gorgeous women of posing with The Grease Jar. At the premier they will be hosting the First Annual Grease Girls Talent Search, a competition seeking 12 of College Park’s finest young women to model for the inaugural calendar. Since The Grease Jar is a Socially Responsible organization, the calendar will most probably be of a tasteful nature.
Oh and by the way, the socially responsible part of the organization will be donating a portion of all proceeds to S.E.E.D.S. (Students Educating about Eating Disorders), a UMD organization and to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to show support for our fallen Comrades at Virginia Tech.
I will definitely be there. I will report back on how the premiere party went.
