Brinks Home Security in Real Life

It’s 2:00 am, a mother and father of wake up to the sound of a downstairs window breaking.   The father goes downstairs to investigate.  The mother reaches for the phone, attempting to call 911.  The phone rings just before she can pick it up.

Voice:  “This is Brinks home security; we are showing a window has been broken, are you alright?”
Mother:  “I don’t know, my husband went down to check, I was trying to call the police”
Father (from downstairs): “There are three men coming in the front door! They have guns!”
*Child screams*
Brinks:  “We are also showing activity on a first floor bedroom window, ma’am, is that correct?”
Mother: “I don’t know, just let me call the police!”
Brinks: “Settle down, I’m trying to help.  Please be patient, this is my first month on the job.  What is your name ma’am?”
Children (also downstairs): “HELP!  ”
Mother:  “Call the police, I hear people coming up the stairs!”
Brinks:  “Calm down, I am trying to assess the situation”
Mother:  “The situation IS, someone needs to call the police”
Brinks:  “I have made two false alarms this week and do not want another poor performance review, I’m sure you understand.  I am just trying to make certain there is an emergency.”
Mother:  “OH GOD, they are trying to kick open the bedroom door!”
Brinks: “You locked the bedroom door?  Are you sure it isn’t your husband just trying to get in?  At my last false alarm, the homeowner mistook his cat for-”
*Loud bang*
*Phone goes dead*

Brinks (to himself):  “Good, she must have solved the problem herself.  I love helping people help themselves.  On my way to an error free month!”
