Amber's Interview

Hey.

Hi!

So what've you been up to this summer?

I'm taking summer classes. And I work. Other than that...going to the beach and going 4-wheeling!

4-wheeling, really? Like ATVs?

Oh yeah! I love quads.

You drive them yourself or behind someone?

I drive them myself for sure. I can't handle when people pussy foot around on them.

Do you have your own?

Yeah I have a Honda 400EX with the big bor kit. So it's now a 440. White brothers exhaust and a K&N air filter.

Wow, I have no idea what any of that means but it sounds awesome.

LOL. It's all for more speed.

How fast have you gone?

There isn't a speedometer on them soooo I'm not really sure. If I had to guess probably close to 50-60.

Gotcha. So you're a pretty big tomboy then huh?

Oh yeah! For sure!

What else do you do that makes you tomboyish?

Well...I'm getting ready for out village OX Roast where I get to watch truck pulls all weekend long! But for the most part I just love getting dirty and taking dares.

What's a truck pull really quick? For the audience I mean...I know what one is.

LOL. Truck pulls are pretty simple. It's just any old hill billy who wants to see how much their truck can pull in weight. So they hook a "sleigh" up to your hitch and you have to have a certain type of shackle. Then you PULL! There are tricks to it though.

What kind of tricks?

Ways to get more inches. Lowering the pressure in your tires...whether or not you have both front and rear lockers, which usually you are only allowed to have one or the other.

You sound like you know what you’re talking about.

I do! I was raised in a farm town! LOL.

So you get a lot of dares you said?

Oh yeah! ‘Cause I’m not afraid of anything so people are always testing me.

What're some of the best ones you’ve gotten?

Well the best I would say was this past 4th of July. I was at a cookout and this guy Andy who lives on Tinkers Creek, which is a run of from a pond that was filled in a few years back ‘cause it was so contaminated, found some fresh water mussels. One of which was open with meat was hanging out. They dared me to eat this raw poop smelling mussel and after I washed it...I did.

That’s pretty disgusting.

Yeah it was! It still reeked of crap and it took me like 4 washings to get the stink out of my hands! I ate another one after that though! LOL.

What else would you say you do that’s Tom boyish?

Hmm well...I dunno...most all of my guy friends tell me I’m like one of the guys...and I do like to fight. Usually wind up beating boys up but whatev! I still climb trees! That’s kind of boyish...and I fish and shoot guns all the time.

Have you ever killed anything?

I've killed rabbits. A few birds and a snake...LOL.

Ever eat any of them?

Nope! I eat my dad’s kills though. Wow that sounded really country.

What did you eat?

Deer.

Do you go camping/hiking a lot?

Oh yes! Down in Southern Ohio....Old Mans Caves! It’s awesome down there! Especially for rappelling!

Is there some story behind that name -- Old Mans Caves?

Haha not that I know of really. I think it’s the way it looks from an aerial view with the water...I think the water looks like a beard and the caves like a man or something gay like that.

Do you climb a lot too?

I prefer to rappel. It’s a lot more fun! More of a rush....like sky diving!

So you've been sky diving ?

Oh yes. Tandem, but still.

That's awesome. What about bungee jumping?

Nope! That's crazy!

Bungee jumping is crazier than sky diving?

That rope could snap. At least with a parachute you have two and hopefully one will open. If not maybe if it catches a little air it can slow you down a little.

Isn't there usually a huge blown up cushion or something when you bungee jump?

No idea.

So what's teh craziest thing you've ever done?

Hmmm I would have to say when I was scuba diving in NC a few years ago. I accidentally swam in a school of barracuda. Remained calm and swam with them a little 'til they turned to the left so I slowly swam right into a SHARK! And that would be pretty crazy. Not on purpose, but crazy, and I did it. So there ya go!

Wow, how big was the shark?

It was pretty big I'm not gonna lie. I thought my life was over. But luckily for me it wasn't aggressive at all.

And it just swam by you?

It freaked out and swam away! So, needless to say my fear of sharks is no more.

That's pretty badass.

I know...but I'm pretty badass! LOL
