Rachel's Interview

Hey

What’s up?

Just hanging out at work. What're you doing?

Just hanging out...another boring Monday.

Are you working this summer?

Yeah I babysit and lifeguard.

That’s cool. I always wanted to babysit but thought it was weird, being a guy and all. And people just wouldn’t hire me.

Haha I mean maybe...to be honest I’ve never heard of a male babysitter.

It's not really fair, but I'm over it. Where do you lifeguard, a beach or a pool?

Pool of course...much cleaner.

That's pretty sweet.

Yeah I haven’t had to save anyone yet. It’s been a successful summer.

Have you ever had to save someone?

Actually last summer I saved two kids at one time...I’m kinda badass. But that’s about it.

That's incredible! You've saved a life! You're like a superhero.

Haha, minus the superpowers.

Don't sell yourself short kiddo, you're awesome. Speaking of awesome, have you ever seen "The Sandlot"?

Are you talking about the scene in which the kid fakes his drowning so he can make out with the lifeguard?

You’re good. One step ahead of me.

Haha, yeah I figured that’s where you were going...

So anyone ever try that?

Not yet.

What’re you doing right now? Don’t you have to go babysit soon?

Yeah I’m babysitting now. It’s nap time.

I'd kill for a nap right now.

Yeah same here. Mondays are the worst.

Gotta case of the Mondays?

Yeah I think so. Doesn’t everybody?

Yeah Mondays are rough.

Did you have a good weekend?

Yeah it was solid.

Cool, what'd you do.

Just hung out with some friends and lived. What about you?

Haha well my weekend started last Tuesday night. I took off for the fourth and went up to my college hometown. We have this thing called Greek Reunion, the weekend following the fourth where everyone goes back up there. A lot of parties, a lot of time on the beach and on boats at the lake.

Wow, that sounds awesome. Let’s hear some stories.

Well what do you want to know? I think the best way to put it is that it ended in a baby oil slip n slide in my backyard at about 4 am Saturday night.

Wow that sounds like an awesome party. Did you go down the slip n slide?

Yes...I went down the slip n slide.

In a bathing suit?

Naturally.

A party with oil and a slip n slide could be the best thing I've ever heard. Ever.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

What else is going on in your life?

My friend’s birthday’s coming up and I’m working on a shot book for my her 21st.

What's a shot book?

It’s a page by page for each shot she takes. Says who bought it, what it’s of, where it’s taken. I think it’s a girl thing.

Oh, so like you already went out for her 21st and have pictures and stuff? And now you're like making a scrapbook?

Haha close. We make it before and take it out with us and she fills it in through the night.

Does she have to take 21 shots?

Absolutely!

Really? That's a lot in one night.

It is...but I mean...I’ve never heard of anyone having a problem doing it...most people even exceed 21.

Do they die?

Haha no, it's over a very large period of time though. I mean, I’ve yet to do it so I don’t have first hand experience.

That's pretty cool.

Yeah, it'll be fun.

Are you in a sorority?

Yep!

Cool, which one?

Sigma Sigma Sigma (the best one...naturally).

Tri Sig?

Haha right.

What was the pledge process like? Give me details.

That I cannot... top secret. You understand. Truman is a smaller campus so our pledge classes are a lot smaller, mine was 27. We spent a lot of time together. It was fun though, nothing brutal.

Do you play any sports?

I did cheerleading in highschool but gave it up in college to concentrate on working and studying.

A lot of people don’t consider cheerleading a sport. Not me, but some people.

Hah I agree.

Really?

Well in highschool we competed and it did take a great amount of athleticism...but I just never really saw it as a sport per se. I’ve never been particularly one way or the other on the matter. It was hard work, a lot of fun and kept me active.

Quick questions. Favorite food?

Haha cucumbers, seriously.

Wow.

…and chocolate. I know. I’m a vegetarian.

Shoe size?

7 1/2

Is that normal girl shoe size?

I have no idea. Well I can borrow a lot of friends' shoes. So maybe?

Alright. Most embarrassing college moment.

Ah so many to choose from.

Give me your top 20.

Hahah, that'd take forever.

Fine, just give me the best one.

As a freshman I was at this huge end of the year frat party and it was raining and we were playing in this mud pit outside...then...when I came inside wearing my flip flops, covered to mud...I slipped right onto my butt on the concrete. Everyone laughed and pointed. I tried to get up and ended up just falling again.

That's awesome.
