Superhero movies like X-Men, Superman, and Spiderman have tried to emulate the success of The Avengers by building towards epic super movies, crammed full of popular characters. Let's take a look at what will happen when this business model inevitably spills out into the rest of the cinematic world.

You may have thought all those character cameos were just a bunch of fun easter eggs, but no. In reality they were a bunch of Nick Fury moments showing us that this is all one extended universe and eventually toys, bugs, monsters, and robots are going to have to join forces to  save the world for some reason.

Freddy Vs Jason? That was fun. Alien Vs Predator? Not bad. Why not put them together, and, while we're at it,  pile on any other notable movie villain too. Dracula! Norman Bates! The Hunter from Bambi! Literally, any character from a movie that ever killed someone will join in on this epic battle royal.

Do Silent Bob, Django and Kate Winslet's character from The Reader have anything to do with one another? Not particularly. Still, they all belong to the Weinsteins, so why not cram them all into one movie and have them solve crimes or some shit. I'm sure it would still win some Oscars.

When the Avengers movies inevitably run out of characters to add to their sequels, they'll need to figure out a new way direction to take. Luckily for them, they have a popular, if totally inscrutable, video game to guide them.

There is no doubt in my mind. This will be my grandson's favorite movie.

Eventually, as each movie tries to top the last, all films will keep on merging into one another until we're left with one single indistinguishable mass, and it will be totally epic.
