Gentrfying -- particularly in areas of Brooklyn -- is a touchy subject. Yes, neighborhoods become a bit safer, but it also pushes out the residents who have lived there for decades, but we'll leave that debate for some TLDR think piece in The Atlantic or something. It's not all bad, some rappers even want white hipsters to move into their neighborhood. Because somehow dumb outfits + opinions = lower crime. Kale is a fucking powerful thing, man.
