With only one day to whip something up on the breaking news that was Donald Trump's lewd comments about women on the Access Hollywood bus in 2005, SNL had their work cut out for them. They shrewdly decided not to bury the lede, and opened their second episode of Season 42, hosted by Lin Manuel-Miranda, with a Vice Presidential debate sketch that quickly cut to Alec Baldwin's Trump trying, but failing harder and harder at putting the scandal behind him.

Even after "applegizing" for everything, Trump just can't seem to catch a break with those hot mics. A true gem in this sketch is Baldwin's expressiveness when he's not talking.

And as always, Kate McKinnon.
