I Fought the Law

Jesus broke the law. So did George Washington. You did, too, and we want to hear about it.

Overreaction

Up -8 Down

I attend a fairly large university who's football team is currently ranked #1. Entering the game on Saturday, I was taken aside by a student worker who swiped my student I.D. The guy was being a jerk to me and I hadn't done anything. He asked if my I.D. was the most current one. I had forgotten that a week prior, I had lost my student I.D., bought a new one, found the old one and kept the old one with the new one in reserve back in my room. I didn't think it was a big deal because both I.D.'s had the same picture and number so I calmly explained the situation to him thinking he'd let me in after discovering the misunderstanding. He informed me that he would not be letting me in the stadium even though it was absolutely in his power to do so. "OK," I said, "will you let me tell my friends that I can't get in?" They were standing a 20 feet away. He responded "No, you need to leave now." He escorted me to the exit where I reached out my hand to take the I.D. back. "I'm not giving it back to you." he said. I was pretty annoyed by this because I paid $15 for it, but I kept my cool and asked why. At no point was I being confrontational just trying to be reasonable. This is when he made a gesture to somebody behind me and I realized without turning around that he had motioned for a cop to come grab me. Not wanting to get into trouble, I quickly stepped through the exit. I stood outside for a few minutes and tried to call my girlfriend to tell her that I would not be joining her in the game. There are alot of people around using the same cell phone service so the call did not go through and I never really expected it to. At this point I'm a little pissed off and caught sight through the chain-link fence of the student worker who was giving me trouble. I decided that I hated his face. I got his attention, flipped him off, and told him to go eff himself. Immediately I was slammed into the fence by a cop and had my arm twisted behind my back. He was screaming and spitting into my ear about how he was going to get me expelled from school and take me to jail. After telling him repeatedly that I would leave immediately and that I was sorry, he let me go after a few minutes. I think it was a bit of an overreaction.
