I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
Atheist Park Ranger
I was working as a park ranger over the summer when this group of people in about their 60s show up. I answer the usual questions for them and just as they're about to leave, they spot my name tag. My name is unusual and sounds biblical...rhymes with Jebediah. So they ask the origin of my name and I explain that it has an old testament origin. So then the woman in front looks at me in the eyes and asks if I have Jesus in my life (I'm atheist). I manage to get out the words "well actually," when she decides that I must be Jewish since my name is from the old testament. She proceeds to tell me not to worry because the Jews are god's chosen people and that Jesus loves us too. I just kinda awkwardly smiled. They left but I ran into them again latter that day on a hiking trail. The woman begins telling me about some kind of religious retreat she went on with a Rabbi and recites a very long Hebrew pray at me. Later they bought two stuffed bears and named one after me and one after my biblical sister.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!

One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
