I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »

I share a desk with a lady that must be around 120. She sits right across, so I usually hunch or bend back, hiding behind my monitor. I do pretty much anything to avoid contact with her. You'll get why right away... She eats constantly and smears food all over her face. She often sleeps and snores (LOUDLY). She twitches, snaps at people for the most random reasons, yells hysterically on the phone, slams the doors and is driving everyone in the office crazy. She never seems to do any work, and is constantly asking me to help her with her Facebook profile. One time she was trying to write a little poem to describe the music she listens to in the field for music, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. Needless to say I was ready to kill myself when she installed the Timeline and we had to start all over again. Also you should see her desktop... I don't even know where do all the new shortcuts she makes go. She has on it an icon for EVERY document, photo, file and email (yes, emails too) she has ever used in her 20 year career at this company. Our IT support team refuses to deal with this. With all that said you should also know that she is one of the best and well recognized professionals in our field. When it comes to quality - she is it! This is exactly what gets me trough the day and helps me suppress my urges to beat her to death or throw myself out of the window. Despite everything I respect her immensely and at first I saw sharing a desk with her as a great opportunity for me to learn. However, my biggest fear now is that if I become very good at my job I'll start looking and acting like her. So instead... I choose to slack and avoid actual work as much as I can for as long as I can.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!
Several years ago I worked with a overnight delivery company. It wasn't unusual to run into all sorts of dogs when you made a delivery (including nasty ones.) One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
