I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
People are gross
I work retail in downtown Seattle, and people frequently come in looking to use the bathroom. I was working on our main floor, doing a stock check in the back room when a middle-aged woman ran through the door marked 'Private' and collided with me with a mixed look of pain, worry, and frenzy. There were tears streaming down her face and she screamed that she needed to use the restroom. I told her that they were upstairs and that the fastest way to get there would be the elevator. She then told me that she needed to buy some jeans first because she could no longer wear her own pants, grabbed an arbitrary pair in her size, and asked me to ring her up (all the while still crying and screaming). After I told her that they'd be $76.10, she yelled at me for how expensive the pants were and that the ones she was wearing would have to do (ew?) and then ran to the elevator. I walkied to the person working upstairs (a new girl who'd only been working a week) to unlock the bathroom for her, and she met the customer. Apparently, the customer had yelled at my coworker that she needed scissors to cut her out of the pants before 'it was too late'. We only had a box-cutter upstairs, and the customer had two people cut her out of her pants before she went into the restroom. I saw and heard nothing of the woman again until she left the store 20 minutes later very nonchalantly, wearing the same pants with a giant rip down the side.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!
Several years ago I worked with a overnight delivery company. It wasn't unusual to run into all sorts of dogs when you made a delivery (including nasty ones.) One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
