A regular day doing furniture delivery.

Up +57 Down

While I was in college I worked for a furniture company as a delivery boy with one of my buddies. One day during the summer we had to deliver a very expensive piece of furniture, this didn't bother me that much because we have delivered high dollar pieces before. We drive out to the middle of F***ing nowhere Kansas, its about 5 hour drive from the shop. We get to the guys house and our boss didn't tell us there was a security gate at the end of the driveway. its about 105 degrees with a heat index of 118 and a truck with no AC. I get out my cell phone to find that there is no service, We walk around hoping one of the grounds keepers would see us or something, this went on for about 30 minutes till I climbed to the top of the delivery truck (which you could fry an egg on)to catch 1 bar of service to call the customer and get the code. He didn't answer until the till I dialed about 15 times. We drive down the 3 mile driveway to the dudes house and unload the piece which weighed easily 350 pounds without any trouble. I checked over it and everything looked alright the customer said everything looks great and we shook hands and left for the 5 hour drive back to the shop, and if you this day could get any worse keep reading. When we get to the shop its way past closing time and we notice the bosses truck is still there along with one of the other managers from one of the other brances, this seems odd they never stay past closing time. we go into the store and see the boss with the biggest I want kill somebody look on his face. He starts cussing us out using every word in the book. We have no idea what is going on or why he is so angry. He said he has been waiting here for 3 hours past close waiting for our F***ing asses to get back now what do you think I should do. This goes on for about five minutes of listen to him cuss at us, call us names, and tell us we are worthless and we still have no idea whats going on. Apparently the piece we delivered was damaged and we got the blame for it. He didn't fire us on the spot but I quit, I took truck, store, and storage unit keys and threw them in the parking lot walking out with my middle finger up in the air. My buddy quit later on but I heard he went and messed with the storage warehouse across town by rearanging everything and stacking it out of place where the boss and future employees would have a hard time finding stuff. That is what I would call a bad day.
