I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
"Don't worry, I only hit walls."
My first serious job was as a teacher at a high school when I was 21. Now this is a Chinese private school and kids do not get to go up a level if they fail to achieve a certain average score for a grade. As an English teacher, I had to grade them based on class participation, homework... all that. This student of mine, a steroid-filled super athletic runner of the school, was about the same age as I was having been retained about 3-4 years. He stormed up to me and demanded an explanation on why he failed his English exam. He was all flushed and had his fist clenched. I, pretending to be calm, explained etc. Suddenly he lifted up his hand seemingly towards my face... then swung 180 degrees and punched the wall. He spun around to face me, all calmed down and thanked me for my explanation, adding nonchalantly, "Don't worry teacher. I don't hit women" and walked off with his shoulders slumped.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!

One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »

Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
