I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
Good to know this useless system's in place.
A few years ago I was working at a country club in the Inland Empire in CA. One of my duties was to close on Sunday nights by myself. I was shown where the silent alarm button was and told that it was connected to the security system for the whole club and that if I ever needed help to push this button and the cops would arrive in minutes. One night as I was leaving I accidentally tripped the alarm on my way out. I ran outside to meet the cops when they arrived. As I was waiting for them to arrive I called the manager to explain what happened. She never picked up so I just left a message explaining what happened. I called the sheriff's office to try to call off the police (I didn't see the point in calling 911) but no one answered. I stood in the parking lot thinking that I was probably in for a long night telling the cops what happened. After waiting in the parking lot for an hour I figured no one was coming so I went home. My manager never asked what happened or why I left my message. A couple weeks later the general manager for the club came up to me and told me that the security company had called a few days earlier to notify him that someone one had set off the silent alarm. Wow, thanks. Good thing I wasn't in any real danger. Thanks, Guys.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!
Several years ago I worked with a overnight delivery company. It wasn't unusual to run into all sorts of dogs when you made a delivery (including nasty ones.) One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
