I have a pet crayfish which I've kept in an aquarium on my desk. He pretty much outgrew his old tank, so I bought a much larger one for him, but I decided to put sand on the bottom instead of gravel which he'd been living on all his life. When I put him in the new tank the first thing he did was try to run, but all of his legs just sunk into the sand. For a second he just freezes, like he's thinking "Dafug is this shit" or something along those lines, but then he flipped the heck out, legs going a mile a minute, claws waving around and he keeps kicking with his tail but he's not going anywhere, and for a full minute he carries on like he's in quicksand. Eventually he dug to the bottom on the tank, and sort of snow plowed his way around. I took him an entire week just to learn how to walk properly on that stuff.
