I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
2% work, 100% sweet victory.
I used to work at this retirement home during high school, it had a dining room (like a fake restaurant, not a cafeteria), and I was a server. When people order milk to drink, we have these big milk fountains in the kitchen with skim and 2%. If they order whole milk, we had to go back to the fridge and pour it ourselves, and it was a pain in the ass. This one crabby old lady always ordered whole milk, and she couldn't always tell if you gave her 2% and she'd send it back. So one day I mixed 90% whole milk and the rest was 2%, and she didn't notice. I got all the other servers to carry out this plan, and whoever was her server that day would give her gradually less and less whole milk. After a couple weeks she was at half 2% and half whole milk, and after a month we had weened her down to all 2% milk. Lots of work for very small victories was the only way to enjoy that job.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!

One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
