I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
This job is too sad.
I worked at a frame shop during my college days where the "townies" would come in and get the most ridiculous pictures custom framed. Everyday I dealt with these hillbilly customers that would complain about the prices, work out a frame/mat combination over a couple hours, and then at the last minute, change their minds. Well one woman came in and wanted to get her sons portrait a new mat. She brought out his picture and out of nowhere started hysterically crying and sobbing at the counter. She then started screaming that her child was dead, and that if I ruined this picture she would sue the frame shop. By this point people have stopped shopping and have started watching. Im just standing there like "uhhh im really sorry about your son, but if you like I can get the measurements, cut the mat and you can hold onto the photo..." She then throws herself onto the counter and precedes to sob and cry loudly into her arms saying "oh god! oh god!" for about 10-15 minutes while her husband and I just stare at each other at a lost for what to do. My manager comes over and demands to know what happened, and tries to calm the woman down. She starts screaming at HIM that her child was dead and how important the picture was to her. She finally manages to calm down and collect herself. So then, she, the manager and I work out a mat combination, enter everything into the computer, guarantee and assure her everything will be fine and ring it up. She looks at me, then the manager, starts tearing up, and then erupts into sobbing again, grabs her picture and runs out of the store. Needless to say, after that day, I started looking for another job.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!
Several years ago I worked with a overnight delivery company. It wasn't unusual to run into all sorts of dogs when you made a delivery (including nasty ones.) One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
