I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
$1 an hour.
I worked at ymca as an intern for a stipend that was to be paid at the end of my internship, which roughly equaled $2 per hour. I didn't mind because there was promise of a job after I finished. About midway though I pissed off a manager who asked me "You went and picked up the seats?" I said "Looks like it." He wanted to fire me on the spot. The next day I got called in to my immediate superiors office and he told me everyone wanted me gone except him. He told me not to apologize and just try to show everyone how much I really wanted to work there through my actions. So I worked my ass off I never sat down all day unless it was work related, I picked and covered extra shifts, did every favor I could for anyone who asked. Toward the end of my internship I trained 3 new people about our system, duties, and showed them exercises and how all the equipment worked. I was then told there weren't enough hours to go around, but I'd be the first he'd call if things picked back up. So I was left with no job, right, but, at least I go my meager stipend. Wrong I got paid less the $1 an hour when I work there and as I later realized I trained my own replacements! The one thing I can take solace in is I don't have to work with those two faced back stabbers any more.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!
Several years ago I worked with a overnight delivery company. It wasn't unusual to run into all sorts of dogs when you made a delivery (including nasty ones.) One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
