I happen to be chronically ill, since i was about 17. Last time i visited my specialist, and i complained about being SO tired all the time and that it depressed me, he told me, i should view my disease and myself differently. He said: "Having Crohns disease, is like being an athlete, it's top sport for the body to deal with it, it's natural for you to be so tired,...it's the... Read More »
Knitted kitten to the rescue
Bit of a long story, so I used to work monday-friday at a small bakery (in a shopping centre) that sold just about everything from cakes to croissants. We had a regular customer who worked at a clothing store in the same shopping centre who came over every day monday-friday during her lunch breaks, and I'd always have her order ready as with every regular. One day an crude old woman comes in about an hour before closing time barking for a cake that we had actually run out of really early that day, I try and explain it to her but after about 5 minutes of her yelling with me politely listening and trying to explain, she leaves. Come the next day, the old lady is back, but this time is trying to tell my boss (who was sick the previous day and not at work) how I didn't do my job and was rude, mean, etc to her. My boss asks what was wrong, the lady points at the cake and says I refused her service, saying I wouldn't give her the cake. I try to tell my boss that we were out when the regular I mentioned earlier comes up to the counter. She had taken a picture on her phone of a customer yesterday because of a cute little kitten the customer had sewn into her jacket, in the background you could clearly see the cake rack for that specific cake being empty. The image was time-stamped for early in the day, before the lady claimed she came to the shop. In the end I was saved by my (now) girlfriends love for kittens... The chances.
I used to be able to get back from lunch at 12:30 and know that there would be a fresh batch of uPick submissions to read, but now I have to actually do some work as it is not being updated everyday!!!!
Several years ago I worked with a overnight delivery company. It wasn't unusual to run into all sorts of dogs when you made a delivery (including nasty ones.) One day, I walked up to a lady's house where the front door was open. As soon as I rang the bell, I heard the jingle of dog tags & realized I was too far away from the vehicle to get back there in time, so I braced myself.... Read More »
I work at Wal-Mart as a Wireless Sales Associate (basically electronics), and we have this one reoccurring older African-American customer who comes in with the assumption that we are some type of IT or Geek Squad. Well anyways, he comes in about a week ago, and brings his laptop. The laptop that he has is a Compact with Windows XP (a bit outdated I must say). Anyways, he pulls... Read More »
I work private security, we have lately been having a lot of issues with access control and breaches (people not allowed to be there, being there.) so we have one officer who is in charge of training all of the officers in proper breach control. During his breach test, he failed and got a slap on the wrist. During mine, I passed but I missed a minor detail and got written up and... Read More »
