I addressed it down below, but just for those too lazy to scroll - we planned this episode completely unaware of the LBP ads that would be running with it. As you can see, we weren't even crazy about the game (though I admired it's potential). Little Big Planet isn't just one of the biggest games of the year. It's also social, accessible, and shiny. That's why we did an episode about it.
Yeah, I had no idea when we shot that this we had also sold Little Big Planet ads. I've been planning on doing a Little Big Planet episode for a while, it's certainly one of the more interesting games this season (though right now a lot of it is just potential). Pat and Sarah, obviously, were not that into it.
Yeah, I looked at a few other boxing games (Ready 2 Rumble, George Foreman, Buster Douglas) but I eventually came to the conclusion the only boxing game anyone's ever really cared about was Punch-Out. Fight Night's pretty good, but Punch-Out's a classic.
I was wondering how he kept the buttons held on long notes. According to his website (as I understand it) the MIDI drums go through a computer before they reach the xbox. That computer has software programmed which, among other things, holds one note until you hit the next. If you want to roll up your sleeves, he's posted the software so you can try it yourself.
The fact that someone who could build this contraption is also this good of a drummer and likes Guitar Hero is really amazing.
There are going to be some directly sponsored episodes of Bleep Bloop, but they will always clearly be identified as such. This, like the Guitar Hero drums video we posted today, is just because we like Guitar Hero and we think you guys do too.
Stride sponsored this series (duh) but they were great and gave us complete freedom to do whatever we wanted once we got there. They didn't ask us to shove a bunch of it into a stranger's mouth, we just thought it would be fun (and it was).
I love Golden Axe, but this is a four minute video! I tried to pick three different kinds of Beat 'Em Ups - TMNT representing the arcade, Streets of Rage representing the consoles, and Castle Crashers representing the modern era.
Something I wish we had time to address is that they are making another 50 Cent game where he (I'm not making this up) is in the Middle East fighting terrorists over a diamond encrusted skull.
I naturally say MARE-io (I'm from NJ if that explains things), but Amir made me self concious in a scene that was cut for time by saying, "I can actually hear the commenters saying it's MAHrio." So I really tried for the rest of the video, but I still slip up. It's only episode 1!
We actually did check out Islands of Adventure. There are some great rides (Spider-Man and Hulk were both top shelf) but were pretty much done with everything by lunch.
Dueling Dragons had no line, we did it three times in a row. If you're only going to ride it once, we strongly recommend Fire over Ice.
