EXT. LAKE
STEVE, 20s, swims frantically, a SHARK FIN in hot pursuit.
Just as the fin is about to catch him, Steve pulls himself
out of the water and onto the dock. He SIGHS in relief.
However, the fin rises out of the water - it's actually a
SHARK STRAPPED TO THE BACK OF A BEAR! Bear (with Shark
attached) climbs onto the dock and ROARS.
FREEZE FRAME. TITLE CARD: BEAR-SHARK!
Steve's jaw drops. He runs out of frame.
EXT. FOREST
Steve runs, checking over the shoulder. Finally, he reaches
the ROAD. He spots an approaching truck. As he flags it
down, the driver waves back at him.
INT./EXT. TRUCK
Steve gets in and slumps in the passenger seat, relieved.
Steve catches his reflection in the rear-view mirror. The
driver's hand reaches and adjusts the mirror, revealing that
BEAR (in trucker hat and aviators) IS DRIVING! Bear waves
cheekily with a SEVERED ARM. (The waving arm from earlier.)
Steve presses himself against the truck door. Bear, still
driving, attempts to bite Steve with both paws on the wheel.
Realizing he can't reach, Bear takes one hand off the wheel
and tries to swat at Steve, but the car swerves, forcing
Bear to grab the wheel.
SIRENS. Bear checks the rear-view mirror. His reckless
driving has attracted a COP CAR. Bear pulls over, and he and
Steve do their best not to look guilty.
The COP approaches the window. ANGLE ON Steve as he tries to
explain his situation to the officer. Suddenly, his face
falls. REVEAL: It's SHARK in a COP COSTUME! Steve looks more
annoyed than terrified.
As Shark opens the door, Steve notices a BILLY CLUB on
Shark's belt. He grabs it and stuffs it in Shark's mouth,
jamming it open. In the chaos, Steve slips past Shark and
flees the truck. Shark and Bear are hot on his trail.
EXT. MOUNTAIN
Steve reaches the foot of a mountain and begins ascending
the sheer rock wall. After a few slips, he gets his footing
and starts climbing. It's hard work.
Steve, tired and dirty, reaches a plateau. He looks back
down the cliff. Nobody's behind him. Phew.
WIDEN TO REVEAL: A CHAIR LIFT directly to Steve's right.
Bear and Shark are in one of the chairs with an OLD WOMAN,
enjoying a casual ride. They reach the summit and dismount.
In a VERY QUICK beat, Bear hands his camera to the old woman
who was in the chair with them. She takes a snapshot of Bear
and Shark against the scenery. The two animals, ferocious
again, resume their chase.
Steve runs until he reaches Bear and Shark close behind of
faith. He SWAN DIVES off a cliff facing the sea. With him,
he decides to take a leap off the cliff, smiling. He got away!
...Or not. Suddenly, a SHARK FIN appears in the water below
him. It's SHARK! Confused, Steve looks up to the top of the
cliff, where Bear and Shark still stand. Bear opens a VALVE
on Cop Shark, who DEFLATES. Shark was an INFLATABLE DECOY!
Mid-air, Steve can't believe it. SERIOUSLY? Shark (the real
one, in the water) leaps STRAIGHT UP, devouring Steve.
Shark continues his upward trajectory until he is eye-level
with Bear. They HIGH-FIVE.
